چکیده
Abstract This study investigated, using the closed chamber method, impact of (1) vegetation community type (Typha latifolia, Cyperus papyrus and Phragmites mauritianus) in a natural tropical freshwater marsh wetland (marsh) (2) conversion into rice paddy (rice paddy), on nitrous oxide (N2O) emission. Both were continuously flooded, while was unfertilized. Average N2O emission from did not vary significantly (p > 0.05) among communities, ranging 0.5 to 0.6 μg m−2 h−1. Similarly, these rates different those recorded (0.7 ± 2.8 [SE] h−1). There no significant correlation between environmental parameters We concluded that does affect marshes under continuous flooding. Further, converting flooded unfertilized paddies but instead enhances carbon emission, as depicted by lower soil organic content paddy. In view climate change mitigation, therefore, management should give priority conservation/protection wetlands.

Direct Nitrous Oxide Emissions From Tropical And Sub-Tropical Agricultural Systems - A Review And Modelling Of Emission Factors
There has been much debate about the uncertainties associated with the estimation of direct and indirect agricultural nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions in developing countries and in particular from tropical regions. In this study, we report an up-to-date review of the information published in peer-review journals on direct N2O emissions from agricultural systems in tropical and sub-tropical region...
متن کاملNitrous oxide emissions from tropical hydroelectric reservoirs
[1] We report original data on nitrous oxide (N2O) fluxes from two tropical reservoirs, their rivers below the dam, and from natural aquatic ecosystems and rainforest soils in French Guiana and Panama. We also review published N2O fluxes from other tropical reservoirs and natural environments. We show that: (1) N2O emissions from tropical reservoirs occur mainly at the reservoir surface, fluxes...
متن کاملNitrous oxide emission from riparian buffers in relation to vegetation and flood frequency.
The nitrate (NO(3)(-)) removal capacity of riparian zones is well documented, but information is lacking with regard to N(2)O emission from riparian ecosystems and factors controlling temporal dynamics of this potent greenhouse gas. We monitored N(2)O fluxes (static chambers) and measured denitrification (C(2)H(2) block using soil cores) at six riparian sites along a fourth-order stretch of the...
متن کاملGenomic footprints of adaptation in a cooperatively breeding tropical bird across a vegetation gradient.
Identifying the genetic basis of phenotypic variation and its relationship with the environment is key to understanding how local adaptations evolve. Such patterns are especially interesting among populations distributed across habitat gradients, where genetic structure can be driven by isolation by distance (IBD) and/or isolation by environment (IBE). Here, we used variation in ~1,600 high-qua...
